Ensemble Il Buranello

Ensemble Il Buranello

Founded in January 2015 by soprano Stéphanie Révillion, the ensemble Il Buranello is a baroque music ensemble based in the North of France and composed of young musicians from the major European conservatories. It is characterised by its exclusive interpretation of vocal music and by its interest in Italian or Italian-inspired music. Il Buranello is an ensemble without musical direction in order to explore to the maximum the advantages of chamber music and listening between all the musicians. Since 2017, it has been collaborating with James Hallyday as artistic advisor and coach. Il Buranello's aim is to think of music and programmes to reach the audience without filters, so that emotions flow directly. It puts all its energy into transmitting the text and the theatre of the music. It takes its name from the Italian composer Baldassare Galuppi, a contemporary of Antonio Vivaldi and nicknamed "Il Buranello" because he came from the island of Burano, near Venice. To pay homage to Galuppi, the ensemble performed a programme based on Confitebor tibi Domine, in Lille, at the Chapelle Royale in Brussels and at the Brussels Parliament as part of the Courants d'Airs Festival. With the programme of 17th century Italian and English music 'Endless Love', it has been selected by the Young Talents Foundation for 2017.
